It's obvious that blogging has not been anywhere near the top of my to-do list.

It's still not.

But there are a few moments from the last couple of months that I don't want to forget.

Halloween 2011

Brooks traveled from house to house in his favorite toy.

He LOVED everything about the evening.

Needless to say Brooks did not get a nap all day.

Brooks is now 19 months old. I can hardly believe it. He is 100% boy. That's the only way I can describe him. He loves anything that drives and has mastered the noise that the engine makes. It is so adorable to watch him drive his cars all over the furniture and make the sound. He talks all day long and can pretty much communicate everything he wants through speech. He is absolutely obsessed with his daddy and asks for him about 50 times a day. He will eat just about anything I put in front of him, excluding cottage cheese and macaroni and cheese. He loves to color and watch Toy Story, and loves loves loves puppies (all dogs). He is such a copy-cat and mimics everything I do. He makes me laugh a million times a day and makes me want to pull my hair out about four times a day. But man, I am so in love with this boy!

Blanket

We have a serious blanket boy at our house. So you can imagine the devastation he felt as I threw it in the washer this morning. I was able to distract him for a time with breakfast and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, but then he disappeared. Can you guess where I found him?

Book Worm

Brooks is obsessed with books. Once you sit down with him to read, you better be able to spend at least thirty minutes reading book after book after book. I love this about him and hope that it continues on through his lifetime.

Brooks has really started to talk a lot lately. And he is really good at it. I attribute his extensive vocabulary to reading. He says more words than I can remember right now and will try to say anything you tell him to. This new found ability has really improved the communication between him and I and I could not be happier. There is not much more frustrating than a whining, screaming child wanting something that I can't understand.

My time with this little boy is getting funner (it's a word in my dictionary) and funner by the second. I seriously pinch myself each night because I find it hard to believe that I enjoy being a mom so much.

I can't wait to see what the future has in store for our little family, but for now I am just enjoying watching my baby grow and become a little boy.

Young Women's

My life has been a little hectic as of late.

One of the reasons for the madness is this...

I got called to be the first councilor in the young women's presidency in my ward.

It's still pretty new, but I already know that I am going to love this calling maybe more than any other calling I have ever had.

The girls are awesome and the other leaders are amazing.

I am truly blessed.

A couple of weeks ago for mutual, the mia maids and I, and my advisor, went to a local bridal shop to try on modest prom dresses. It was so much fun! Those girls are seriously so cool.

I look forward to all of the adventures that this calling will bring about and hope that maybe in some small way my service will benefit some of the girls' lives.

I know it will benefit mine a thousand times over.

Yesterday I did five loads of laundry.

Three of them being whites.

(I am a little behind, don't judge.)

And guess what?

ALL of the socks had a match.

That has never happened to me before.

Something crazy has started to happen...

After I had Brooks, people told me I would forget all about the terribleness of pregnancy, labor and delivery, and the recovery that followed. I did not believe them, nor was I planning on having another baby; EVER. As a lot of you know, my body had a very rough time recovering from the madness of labor and delivery. It seemed like everything that could go wrong, did. And the thought of doing it again made me want to cry. But I loved my baby more than anything and at the end of the day, everything I went through was well worth it. Now here we are, a year and a half later, and I find myself thinking about another little one. Am I crazy?? Maybe. So I try to remind myself all about the negative things that came with the first little one, and you know what? I am having a hard time remembering. How does this happen? My theory: Heavenly Father knows that in order for his children (especially the women) to continue to multiply and replenish this earth, he must wipe their memory clean of past hardships due to the process. It's not that I can't remember what happened, cause those are memories that will be burned into my brain forever, it's just that I can't remember them being that bad. And not only that, but I find myself thinking that I can do it again. I told you, something crazy has started to happen.

Just a side note:

I am well aware of the many hardships that a lot of women go through to get their children here. Hardships that are a million times worse than mine. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have even been able to have Brooks, and not a day goes by that I don't thank my Father in Heaven for him.

Let's just start by saying that guns terrify me.

I don't like to hold them, be near them, and I definitely do not like to shoot them.

This story not only breaks my heart but scares the crap right out of me.

Girl shot by brother's BB gun dies

LEWISTON, Cache County – A 3-year-old girl has died from injuries sustained when she was shot in the head with a BB gun by her 9-year-old brother.

On Aug. 17, two brothers were pumping their BB guns with air and shooting their 3-year-old sister in the head with air, Cache County Sheriff's Lt. Chad Jensen said in a prepared statement.

During one of the shots, the 9-year-old brother pumped his gun with what he thought was air and shot it and his sister's head. A BB was in the gun and struck the girl on the left side of her head, Jensen said.

The girl was initially taken to Franklin County Medical Center before being transported to Primary Children's Medical Center where she died from her injuries. The Utah State Medical Examiner contacted the Cache County Sheriff's Office about the incident.

Sheriff's Lt. Chad Jensen said although it may turn out to be an accidental shooting, as of Wednesday investigators weren't ready to make that conclusion.

"We're not ruling anything out right now. We can't comment on a motive. We'll review the information we've collected with the county attorney," he said.

The Cache County Sheriff's Office was contacted to investigate the incident.

I honestly teared up when I heard this story on the news this evening. How devastating would it be if this happened in your family? Now don't get me wrong, I am not against guns. I know they serve an important role in certain situations. I just believe that they should not be used as toys. EVER! I hope as parents, Carson and I will be able to successfully teach our children how to properly handle a gun, even if it's plastic, and to stress the importance of gun safety.

My heart goes out to the young man that made this awful mistake. And to his parents that are surely devastated by the incident.

I can't figure out how to get rid of the excess three inches of this post. It is driving me mad!

Mud Bath

It rained really hard at my house today.

I love rain storms in the summer.

There is one problem though...

almost my entire yard is still dirt as we are preparing to install a sprinkler system.

I did not plan on or want this to happen,

it just kinda did.

He was a little cautious at first.

It was all fun and games until someone had to be cleaned up.

My desire to blog has been non-existent lately.

Sorry for that.

The good thing is that we are still alive and having a great summer.

Brooks turned into a little boy overnight it seems, and is such a busy one at that.

He absolutely loves being outside and is not content unless he is dirty.

He is obsessed with otter pops and eats at least four a day.

His Dad (#1) is the coolest person in the world to him.

Sprinkler pipe trenches make the best playgrounds.

Playing in the rain with #1.

Getting VERY dirty while camping, but loving every second of it.

Hiking with #1.

Earning his keep in mismatched jammies.

No matter how often I apply sunscreen, his skin just continues to get darker.

I love his little farmer's tan!

This kid loves four-wheelers and motorbikes.

Fortunately for me, he is still content with the one that only goes 2 mph.

It won't be long I am sure.

Being naughty.

#1 and I are very much alive and doing well.

We just don't look as cute in pictures as Brooks does.

So we have none.

Brooks and I met up with some of my high school friends and their babies and took a trip to the zoo.

Brooks had a great time watching people all day and I really enjoyed catching up with the girls and seeing their babies.

Also, the weather was perfect!

The only downside was that it must have been school day because there were a million little kids running around EVERYWHERE.

The mass of people was way more interesting to him than the animals.

New Nephew

Remember the baby shower I threw for my sister back in March?

Well the little recipient of all the gifts has finally made his debut.

It was a rough go there for a while, but I'm sure my sister would say it was well worth it!

She was so excited to get started...

her mind changed pretty quick!

He spent the first four days of his life in a bili bed.

I had the opportunity to go out to West Virginia to be with my sister when she had her baby. Things did not quite turn out how we had hoped, but I am so glad that I was able to be there with her through all of it. I am also very glad to report that baby Kevin is doing well at home.

and we had a wonderful/exhausting time!

The kid got spoiled rotten and loved every single second if it.

I loved watching him love it.

11 months

The expression on his face illustrates perfectly how I am feeling about this little guy being 11 months old.

What??!!

Some things we want to remember about you Brooks, one month before you have your first birthday:

- You have four teeth, with two more on the way.

- Your hair grows very fast and sticks straight up; therefore, you have had three hair cuts.

- Your immune system is really learning how to work. You have been sick on and off for the past two months.

- You eat just about whatever I put in your mouth. Some things you really love are avocados, bananas, lentils, grapes, potatoes, and cheetos.

- The minute your dad gets home from work, you lose all interest in me. That dad of yours is just so much fun!

- You know how to whine, hoping to get what you want.

- You can walk around while holding on to furniture. It won't be long before you get brave and let go.

- You have never crawled normal. You started out by rolling everywhere, then you mastered the army crawl, and then straight from the army crawl you started to bear crawl. The bear crawl is by far the funniest thing you do. Sometimes your legs get ahead of your hands and you fall right onto your face.

- You make your mom and dad so proud to be your parents. We can't wait to see what you do next.

Mess-Maker

This cute little boy has become quite the little mess-maker.

Here is my philosophy on mess-making.

Brooks is allowed to make any mess he wants, just as long as the mess takes less time to clean up than he spent making it.

I probably re-stack the DVD's seven times a day.

It's definitely worth it.

Baby Shower

My older sister is expecting a little one real soon...

a baby boy and I am sooo excited for her!

The problem is,

she lives all the way across the country in West Virginia.

I hate that!

I miss her so much and needed a reason to get her out here...

so I convinced my dad to fly her out to Utah so I could throw her a baby shower.

(Thanks dad)

I spent a ridiculous amount of time preparing for it,

but it was worth every second.

She loved it!

The shower was very successful,

but more importantly,

we had a great few days together.

Thank you sister for traveling that far while seven months pregnant.

I loved spending time with you and miss you like crazy already!

Also, a big thanks to Jamie for all of your help.

I really appreciate it!

Sledding

Brooks experienced sledding for the first time the other day.

I have been dying to put that adorable blue snowsuit on him,

and the weather was perfect,

so out we went.

I just pulled him around the yard a few times,

but he was loving it.

And then he started to get cranky.

Those darn top teeth.

As of today they have both cut through the gums.

I hope this means the return of my smiley boy.

Doesn't he look oh so cute in that blue snowsuit?

Participation

Saturday night brought a lot of snow to our house.

So Sunday morning Carson got to do one of his very favorite things.

Shovel.

Brooks wanted so badly to participate, but I was not as interested.

I was also not that interested in standing by the window for an hour while holding him so he could watch.

And he let me know real quick that he wanted to watch.

So I drug the high chair into the living room, buckled him in and guess what?

He loved it.

He seriously sat there for an hour watching the men shovel the culdesac.

It's unfortunate that there is not something interesting going on outside of our window everyday.

Tub Toys

If given the opportunity to choose,

Brooks would probably choose a shower with dad over a bath.

But bath time is still a great time.

Especially with tub toys.

We got these tub toys as a gift for the boy before he was born.

Knowing that he wouldn't be able to play with them for a while,

I put them up on the top shelf of his closet.

And then I forgot about them.

Finding them was like a little piece of Christmas all over again.

The base part squirts water up,

and then there are four pieces that go on the base that squirt the water in different ways.

The red piece (shown above) sprays the water in a star-like formation.

Brooks will get down low and open his mouth wide and drink as much of his bath water as I will let him.

It is hilarious!

Burn

Sister Marjorie Pay Hinckley once said:

"A mother is only as happy as her saddest child."

This quote proved to be very true this past week.

As I mentioned in a previous post, Brooks burned his hand really bad.

Here is how it happened. (for journaling purposes)

*I just want to preface by saying that Brooks absolutely loves chords. He would be content for hours with one chord. I do not normally let him play with them so when he sees an opportunity he really goes for it.*

He was crawling around my bedroom floor as I was getting ready in the bathroom. The chord to my straight iron was up on the counter (I try to be very careful about keeping chords out of his reach because of said obsession), except for about a foot of it was hanging down in front of the sink. I thought it was quite a ways out of his reach so I did not move it. I soon learned that nothing is out of his reach; this boy has got some mad skills. He opened the bottom drawer and pulled his upper body up onto it. With one hand holding himself up he reached as far as his chubby little arm could and grabbed the chord. Of course, the straight iron fell off the counter and landed open on Brooks' hand. I tried to catch it on the way down but I was about two seconds too late. The damage had been done, and when I say damage I mean DAMAGE. My poor baby cried hysterically for an hour straight. It was so painful seeing him so sad and not being able to do anything about it. And to top it all off, I felt like it was all my fault. What kind of mother leaves the chord to something so dangerous hanging off the counter top? Not a very good one I thought. So there Brooks and I sat, both bawling our heads off, waiting for the pharmacy to open. Once we got the burn cream applied and his little hand wrapped up, Brooks calmed down and fell asleep. He slept for three and a half hours. Just enough time for Carson to convince me that accidents happen and that I really am a good mom. (I am very lucky to have such a supportive husband.)

Brooks has been pretty good since the incident. He doesn't use his left hand much, but he doesn't complain about it much either. And I learned a very important lesson: my tiny baby isn't such a tiny baby anymore. Looks like I better get used to having a very mobile child. (Heaven help me when he starts walking.)

everything about me right now is Brooks.

Yeah I have hobbies and things I do for myself,

but all those things pale in comparison to my duties as a wife and mom.

no one wants to see pictures of me running on a treadmill

or reading my Kindle.

So I'm sorry if you feel that my blog is boring...

but it's probably not going to be changing anytime soon.

Plus, my sister lives in West Virginia

and she BOTHERS me all the time to put new pictures of the boy on here.

She misses him.

I understand...

So here you go Annie, and anyone else that cares.

He really is such a happy boy!

Brooks got this tiny wagon thing for Christmas that had a bunch of blocks on it.

He likes the blocks.

He loves the tiny wagon.

He will sit on that thing and get pulled around the house for hours.

Every time he passes me he gives me a big grin.

It is hilarious!

Remember how I said he has great posture?

Look how straight his back is.

It hurts me to sit like that for more than 20 seconds.

He also has some really wild hair in the morning.

8 months

Time is flying by with this little rugrat,

and I don't want to forget any of the details.

At 8 months Brooks:

- can sit up all by himself and has incredible posture.

-is mastering the art of the army crawl.

-loves bread, baby cheese puffs, vanilla yogurt, any orange vegetable, all fruits, and of course anything sweet.

-claps his hands when you say "Yay Brooks!".

-is starting to throw mini tantrums.

-still sleeps on his side with his head cocked all the way back.

-hates the car seat.

-still only has two bottom teeth (which are very sharp).

-can entertain himself for long periods of time.

-likes to shower more than bathe.

-talks jiberish all day long (including mamama and dadada).

-gets into everything he can get his hands on.

-makes me smile a kajillion times a day.

We love this boy!

Something very unfortunate happened...

we lost our point and shoot camera.

I cannot find it anywhere.

The most unfortunate part about it all is that Brooks' first Christmas is captured on it.

As is his first haircut.

*sigh*

I am still optimistic that it will be found,

but with all the moving around we did during the holidays it could be anywhere.

It is because of this very unfortunate situation

(and because I have been very busy with work stuff)

that I have not updated the blog for a really long time.

My older sister lives in West Virginia, so when she came out for my dad's 50th birthday party we decided to get some family pictures taken because who knows when we will all be together again.

We went to JC Penney because they are fast and cheap (with a bunch of coupons that is).

But because JC Penney wants you to pay $180.00 for a disc with your pictures on it, these pictures are scanned.

That is why they don't look that great.

Baby it's cold outside

It's cold outside.

Obviously; it's December.

But when it's cold outside I have a really hard time getting my lazy self out of the house to exercise.

And now that I have a baby it's almost impossible to get out for fear of freezing my little guy.

That is until I got a weather shield for my stroller.

I absolutely love it!

Brooks can stay warm while I run.

Brilliant!

Dear Brooks,

You are six months old already and I can't believe it.

How did you go from this...

to this...

in such a short amount of time?

I miss this...

but absolutely LOVE this...

You bring so much joy into mine and daddy's lives.

We love you more than words can say!

At six months you:

weighed 18 pounds 3 ounces (65%tile)

were 28 inches tall (93%tile)

Still have a pin head (as your dad likes to call it) like mom - 16.9 inches (30%tile)

Also at six months you:

- Are rolling all over the place. I have to keep the floor well vacuumed because whatever you find on the floor ends up in your mouth.

- Are still breast feeding like a champ!

- Love to eat food, except for peas and bananas.

- Have two bottom teeth.

- Sleep ten to twelve hours each night.

- Are not the greatest napper (much to my dismay)

- Can almost sit up by yourself.

- Love to play with your daddy.

- Love books.

- Are very much a momma's boy.

- Still have the cutest double chin in town.

Brooks, the past six months have been the best six months of my life. Being your mom is such a blessing. You have the ability to make me laugh, cry, want to pull my hair out, and smile all in one minute. I appreciate your willingness to let me learn and grow as a mother (sorry for letting you fall off the couch the other day). I look forward to many more milestones with you.

so Carson gave it to him.

I immediately objected. Choking babies freak me out.

But Carson said it was a very crisp apple and B wouldn't be able to get any chunks seeing as how he doesn't have any teeth.

So we let him gnaw on it for a while

Bath Time

Brooks absolutely loves the bath.

He could stay in there for hours if we'd let him.

He is constantly kicking his legs and splashing with his arms the entire time he is in there.

My favorite part of bath time is after, when B is lotioned and in PJ's...

and in his crib asleep!

Conference weekend and five months

This past weekend was general conference for my church.

I love listening to conference.

I love the spirit that enters my home as the Tabernacle Choir sings.

I am so grateful for the opportunity we have to listen to such amazing people bear testimony of our Heavenly Father and teach us of his words.

Today was rough!

Brooks cried for a large part of the day and I have no idea why.

Is he teething?

Does his belly hurt?

Is he too hot?

Is he too cold?

Is he going through a growth spurt and needs more to eat?

Is he just having a fussy day?

I really don't know, but it breaks my heart to see him so sad.

And it kind of drives me crazy! (not in a shake your baby kind of way though)

But as rough as today was, I wouldn't change my role as a mom for anything.

Four Months

My son is four and a half months old.

I can't believe it, but at the same time can't believe that it's only been four months.

Weird!

4 month stats:

weight - 15.94 lbs - 74%

length - 26 in - 87%

The doc said he looks very healthy (Brooks doesn't skip many meals) and has above average head control.

Some things Brooks does/can do right now...

- rolling over from his back to his tummy (then gets frustrated that he's stuck on his tummy)

- giggling a lot

- sleeps ten to eleven hours every night

- wants to stand ALL the time

- Throws himself backward when frustrated

- Plays with his feet

- Is such a momma's boy

- Chews on anything he can get to his mouth

- Drools all day

- Eats baby food (He hates bananas. He gags when I feed them to him)

- Loves to ride in the stroller while mom runs

- etc. etc. etc.

We love this boy more than words can say.

He is definitely the best thing Carson and I have ever done.

Last week Brooks and I went to Lake Powell with my family.

I was very hesitant to go (especially after our miserable camping trip), but we ended up having a grand time.

The weather was perfect! Hot in the day, cool at night.

Also, the water was about 84 degrees the whole week.

Brooks loved it!

My blog has only consisted of Brooks as of late and for that I have no apology.

This little boy is my world.

Today we went in for his 8 week check-up as well as his vaccinations.

The doc confirmed what we knew all along; Brooks is a BIG boy.

He is in the 96th percentile for his length and 76th percentile for his weight.

We sure know how to grow em.

This kid loves taking baths. He is so calm and happy when in the bath tub.

(Carson was worried that Brooks would be embarrassed by this picture in the future so he covered his manhood.)

Day time around here is getting to be so much fun! Brooks is awake and alert a lot more and is starting to "talk" a lot.

Night time around here is great as well. Brooks is an awesome sleeper. I put him down between 9:30 and 10:00 and he sleeps until about 5:30. After feeding him, he falls asleep and sleeps until 8:30 or 9:00. This makes for a happy boy and an even happier mommy!

Brooks' first time in the tire swing at grandma and grandpa's. He enjoyed it.

(Right up until Carson pushed him a little too high and he got scared and started screaming.)

Brooks did so well with the shots. He cried for about two minutes and then was fine.

I'm pretty sure it was more traumatic for me than it was for him. I cried all the way out to the car. Those little band-aids just make me so sad.

Summer training has begun for cross country so Carson has been a little busy putting together workouts, but besides that not much is happening at our house.

We are enjoying summer and really look forward to all the Independence Day festivities.

How is this possible?

The last 6 weeks of my pregnancy seemed like a lifetime. These past 6 weeks have cruised by.

I guess the saying is true; Time flies when you're having fun!

My baby boy received a father's blessing yesterday and it was beautiful! How grateful I am for my husband and his ability to hold the priesthood. It was such a special thing to see my little guy in his daddy's arms surrounded by men that all mean so much to me.

Life with this little guy is so great!

Hectic at times, but great.

We are both still getting to know each other and I am enjoying every minute of it.

The Story

As most of you know, my due date was April 30. So you can imagine how I was feeling come May 3. I was having contractions like crazy, but they never got closer then seven minutes apart. I was getting really frustrated and expressed this frustration to my doctor at my appointment on Monday. Since I was only dilated to a two, I was sure that I would not be having a baby anytime soon. Boy was I wrong. After listening to my complaints, my doctor decided to break my water right then and get things going. I was shocked. I called Carson and told him to go home, get our stuff and come to the hospital because we were gonna have a baby that night. He didn't believe me at first. My doctor broke my water at 3:30 p.m. and Brooks was born at 2:40 a.m. He is healthy as can be and Carson and I couldn't be happier.

Baby Room and Gear

I noticed today that I haven't posted since February. How boring am I?

To make it up to you, I thought I would share some pictures of our baby's room. It's not quite finished, but getting closer every week. I am really loving it.

- My uncle made the crib for me and gave it to me for Christmas. It is seriously so incredible.

- My grandma made the crib bedding and the blanket shown. They both have the alphabet with various animals on them.

Carson made this t-shirt holder (that is what he calls it) for me when we were dating. I think it fits perfectly in the baby room.

The animals hanging on the walls are called "mini glitter shapes". They are made by a company called Twleve Timbers. I found them (glitterless) at a local craft store and had to have them. They match the bedding perfectly.

So cute!!

- We do not have a changing table pad yet. It's still on the "to buy" list

- Once the little guy comes, I plan on hanging some framed pictures of him from the pegs on the shelf. I also hope to find something cute to put on the shelf.

Let's just say that I am NOT a crafty person.

So when my neighbor invited me to come over and make these season blocks, I was a little hesitant.

I am really happy with the outcome though.

I got a little burned out so the fall set is not yet finished.

I have ten weeks left and cannot believe it! Time has flown by since Christmas.

Carson and I are getting more and more excited with each passing week. We can't wait to meet this little guy.

Grocery Shopping

Carson went grocery shopping yesterday. This does not happen that often. He gets cranky at the grocery store. But he understands that I am tired when I get off work so he lovingly tried to be a great husband and help out.

Later that evening, as I was preparing to make dinner, I noticed that the contents in the fridge were practically the same exact contents that were in there when I left to work. That's wierd. I could have sworn he told me he was going to the grocery store. So I ask him, but not in a whiny voice because he hates that, where he put all the groceries. He tells me he put them away. Okay. Where did you put them away? (still not whiny). He tells me he put them in the pantry. Thats even more weird because everyone knows that you can't put milk and yogurt (which I crave just about every day) in the pantry. So I open up the pantry door and sure enough, there sitting on the first shelf are the groceries that he bought. This is what was purchased:

One bag of sour cream and cheddar chips
One bag of barbeque chips
One bag of regular tortilla chips
One bag of french onion Sun Chips
One can of pizza flavored Pringles
One box of cereal (his favorite kind)
One bag of peanut M&M's
One loaf of wheat bread
One box of oranges

Along with a couple frozen pizzas, that was it.

What a helpful guy!

I just had to laugh because this is totally how he shops. Whatever looks and sounds good is what he gets, and that is all. I guess chips were looking pretty dang good to him.

Maybe grocery shopping just isn't his calling in life. I can accept that.

Looks like I will be making a stop at the grocery store on my way home tonight.

I thought I'd post of a picture of the belly since it hasn't been seen on the blog yet. It feels much bigger than it looks! I'm 24 weeks along and enjoying most of my pregnancy.

Sorry about the quality of the picture, I'm not quite sure where our camera is at the time.

As I quickly stated in my last post, we were able to find out what we are having. Let's just say my doctor is a saint. She felt bad that we couldn't find out what we are having so during my last appointment she sneaked me back into the ultrasound room for a real quick peek. It didn't take her long to see that our little bundle of joy is a BOY! We are so excited to welcome our little guy into our family in three and a half months.

Stubborn or Modest?

Well we went to the doctor the other day for our big ultrasound and to find out what we are having and you will never believe what happened; our little bundle of joy was all folded up and would not let us take a peek between the legs. That's right, we did not get to find out what we are having. So now, since our insurance company will only pay for one big ultrasound, we cannot find out until the birth (unless I have problems, which I hope I don't). This is not a joke folks! I would not lie about something so sad. Oh well, I guess we will get a BIG surprise in April. CAN'T WAIT!
Other than the upsetting news, our baby looks healthy with all organs intact. That's all I can ask for at this point.

Life as we know it.

Things in our life are moving forward weather we're ready or not. Winter is one of those things. Fortunately for us, our house is almost finished. I will soon be able to enjoy a warm house without spending a fortune on electricity.

Goodbye 100 year old condo. You probably won't be missed (that much).

Halloween was once again very eventful. Carson's family tries to have an annual Halloween party for all the cousins. It's always a good time with good food and good company.

I dressed up as Snow White and Carson dressed up as Michael Phelps. Carson was trying to get a rise out of his brothers (it's one constant competition with the Campbell boys) and that is just what he got. It was pretty funny to hear their responses when we walked into the party.

My life as a pregnant woman has been improving almost daily. How grateful I am for nauseous-free nights. I have not posted a picture because my belly is not that big. If you didn't know I am pregnant you would never guess it by looking at me. When I really start to show, I will post a picture. We find out what we are having December 7. I AM SO EXCITED!

The holidays are upon us and I can't help but get a little giddy just thinking about it. What a wonderful time to spend with family and friends. I can't wait!

Well I guess since everyone is finding out, I better announce it personally so no one gets their feelings hurt.

Carson and I are expecting!

We are both really excited, but feeling a little overwhelmed with the house and a baby. We just keep telling ourselves that things happen like they do for a reason.

I am in my 13th week and starting to feel much much better. Goodbye first trimester. I am due in April and will find out the gender in December. I seriously cannot wait. The weeks have never moved so slowly. Carson is hoping for a boy (shocking!) and I am hoping for a healthy baby. I know that every pregnant woman says that, but I never completely understood why until now. Every little thing makes me nervous. There are so many things that are out of my control and I don't like it. Hopefully the things that I can control really make a difference.

Well the month of August went by in a flash and it seems as though September is going to too. Winter is going to be here before I know it. HOW AWFUL!

We have been living pretty boring lives as of late (who am I kidding, our lives are dull almost ALL of the time) but I don't mind a bit. It feels nice to just kick back and enjoy things every once in a while.

Lake Powell was awesome, just like always. Seriously one of the best vacations ever. This year the weather was perfect; hot days, cool evenings, and not very much wind. What else could a girl want besides a bunch of good food and great company? We also got to have our very own firework shows while we were there. We're not talking neighborhood fireworks here kids, we're talking Stadium of Fire fireworks. It was pretty sweet.

We saw this giant hole in the wall one day while out boating....

so we decided to hike up to it.

A cute little lake that we found while hiking around. There is a rope attached to the wall at the top of that black/green stuff. Some of us decided to try to climb up it so we could see what was up there. We quickly found out that we were in for a challenge. Most of us finally made it, but not without scuffed knees and blistered hands. And do you think it was worth it? Not really. And to top it all off, getting down was a nightmare. What an adventure!

It's 100% official. My diploma finally came in the mail. I've now got it on paper just in case someone doesn't believe me.

I had a lot of people tell me that once the semester began I would probably feel a little sad or left out. Who were they trying to kid. I had no such thoughts!

And just to end this post with a kick, we have some exciting news. Our new house is in construction mode. Goodbye annoying neighbor that sings opera in the shower EVERY morning. Goodbye other annoying neighbors that party til three in the morning almost EVERY weekend. Hello peace and quiet. Hello garage (I seriously can't wait to have my own garage). Hello extra space.

Needless to say, Carson and I are done being apartment dwellers. We are SO stoked about this new project.

Today in church we were talking about fathers and the role that they hold within the family. At the end of the lesson, our teachers showed us a great example of a good father. This story is so incredibly touching that I had to share with all of you (be prepared to shed a few tears).

Dick Hoyt and his wife Tamara had a child born with cerebral palsy. The child is named Rick. Because of his disability, Rick cannot walk or talk. He is confined to a wheelchair because he has no control over his muscles. One day when Rick was a little bit older, his neighborhood was holding a charity 5K run and he told his dad (he communicates through a computer that writes out his thoughts using slight head movements) that he wanted to run in the race. Knowing that his son could not physically do this, Dick decided to run the race while pushing Rick in a wheelchair (it might be important to know that Dick had not run a day in his life previously). They finished second to last, but Rick was so happy that he told his father that he did not feel handicapped when they were in the competition. That first race started a life time of racing for the father son team. After many years, these are some of their achievements.

216 Triathlons, 6 Ironman distances

20 Duathlons

65 Marathons, 25 Boston Marathons

They have also biked and ran across the USA in 1992 with a total of 3,735 miles in 45 consecutive days.

Wedding and stuff

My older sister got married last week in Vegas, and true to my word I did not show my teeth in any pictures. I know I kind of look like a brat but I'm over it.

She may be the cutest niece anyone has ever seen!

Vegas was fun, but I was more than ready to come home because it was SO RIDICULOUSLY HOT there. There were times when I would be walking down the street and I honestly felt like I couldn't catch my breath because of the heat. I was wiped out for a whole week upon returning home. Seriously!!

We also got a new camera. I love it!

Summer has been zooming by. I got up this morning to go running and it was still dark out. Just a couple weeks ago, at the same exact time, the sky was completely lit when I woke up. This ANGERS me! It makes me sad to see back to school shopping commercials on the television. Why oh why can't we have only two months of winter and three additional months of summer? Carson would not enjoy this so much, but who asked him?

I'm not sure what the fall is going to bring because for once in my life I am not returning to school. How weird is that? No more walking through campus in the frigid wind. YAY!

Happenings

I chopped my hair off. It was kind of scary at first, which is why I have not posted any pictures, but I think I am getting the hang of it. What do you think? Did I make a BIG mistake? My good friend from high school, Jaime, cut it for me and I think she did a great job. She tried to show me how to do it, but I must not have payed good enough attention because it has never looked the same as it did the day I walked out of her salon. Oh well.

(Notice the closed smile? I do not really care for my brace face so I have chosen to keep it shut in every picture until they are off. Sorry to my sister who is getting married in ten days and wants me to smile normal.)

Besides the new hair, things in Cache Valley have continued to move forward. It's FINALLY starting to get HOT and I bet you wouldn't believe this, but I found my self complaining a little bit the other day because "It is too hot!" I guess I'll never be satisfied.

The fourth of July was just as fun as past years. What's better than a parade, a BBQ, and fireworks? Not much!

Likes vs. Dislikes

I have not posted in a while because I don't know what to post about. Our lives are seriously very boring on paper/computer screen. Maybe we'll get adventurous in the near future and I'll have something to post about. Until then, here are a few things that have been on my mind recently. Half of them are things I LIKE to think about, half of them are things that I DISLIKE to think about.

LIKES

I can not get enough of this little treat as of late. Every single night at about 8:30 my saliva glands kick into gear and I just HAVE to have some graham crackers and milk. Fortunately for me, it's kind of healthy!

This cute little girl makes me smile. So does the big hole in her mouth.

I FINALLY GRADUATED! Yay for me! Yay for freedom! Yay for change!

DISLIKES

Most of you don't know this, but I got braces again. Why? Because when you work on teeth all day it becomes easier to see problems with your own teeth. And because the price was right. Now your probably wondering why I am complaining about them when it was my choice to get them in the first place. It's simple; MY TEETH HURT!!! I do not remember them causing so much pain when I was thirteen. The good news is I only have to look like a teenage dork for a few more months.

Is anyone as sick of watching basketball on television as I am? I don't even care who wins, just do it already!!!

Spring is actually one of my favorite seasons, but there comes a time when rain every single day gets a little old. I am sick of feeling soggy. I am sick of the humidity. I want to see the sun. I want to go on a bike ride and not get covered in mud. I want to ditch my umbrella.

Marriage

It has been FOUR years since this delightful day!

Where has the time gone?

It's been pretty great because I married a great person and am excited to continue on this journey with him.

Some things I have learned in these four short years:

Marriage is tough.
I really enjoy cooking (although I don't do it as often as I would like because we're BUSY)
I am not a very patient person.
Panda Express and The Redbox provide for a perfect night in.
I actually enjoy running.
I DREAD doing dishes (even with a dishwasher).
My husband is kinda crazy when he gets on any motorized vehicle.
I love him now a lot more than I loved him four years ago.
Carson will be a great father.
My husband is obsessed with running.

Marrying Carson was the best decision I ever made.

Well I finally graduated! Can you even believe it because I'm not sure I can. It's really kind of a scary thing because when one is a student for 16 years straight, one only knows how to be a student. I am terrified of real life. Maybe I'll go back to school. On second thought, that sounds like a terrible idea. Maybe I should just grow up and learn how to be an adult. Sounds almost as fun as going back to school, right? No, I am just joking. I am thrilled to be a college graduate and I can't wait to see what my future has in store for me. As of right now I am working as a dental assistant and high school track coach. Life is pretty awesome!

Overdue Florida post and picture overload

A few weeks ago Carson and I went to Florida to attend my older sister's wedding. I know what you're thinking, "How terrible it would be to HAVE to go to Florida in February". Don't worry, I was willing to sacrifice four days of student teaching for her. That's just how much I love her. We were there for five days and really had a good time. We hung out on the beach, ate some good seafood, and partied at the wedding. Let's just say, I was not ready to come home. The frozen tundra just does not compare to the tropical weather of St. Petersburg, Florida.

Things in our life are just the same as always. Carson continues to play and work (in that order), while I slave away daily teaching high school students about drugs and making them run laps and learn sport skills. Only three weeks left!! CANT WAIT!

Oh what Joy!

As most of you know, I am really busy doing a really wonderful thing...Student Teaching! Over the past couple months I have come to find out just how exciting it can be.

I get to work all dang day and not get paid one penny for it. Love it!
I get to watch my cooperating teacher do nothing all dang day and get paid lots of pennies for it. Love it even more!
I get to dress in P.E. clothing every other day. So comfortable.
I get to teach smart mouthed tenth graders about sex. Can't wait!
I get to wear a really nice name tag that reads "Mrs. Campbell" every single day.
I get to tell kids when to speak and when not to speak. Really do love it!
I got to eat school lunch! Notice the word "got". I ate it once and decided to never make that mistake again.
I get to hear all the high school drama but not be a part of it. So funny!
I get to see the look in my students eyes as I hand out tests. Even more funny!
And last but not least, I get to be done being a student in 7 weeks! Really can't wait!

*I really do love student teaching. It's a lot of fun and way better than listening to a lecture and taking notes. But I am more than ready to be DONE!

We consulted with the "big" man and were told that we were on the NICE list (not that I didn't already know that). Therefore, Christmas was a good one for us. Due to a very unfortunate event, we got to spend a lot of time with family. We are both blessed with such wonderful families so it wasn't all that bad :)

Crunchy or Creamy

We were at Sam's Club the other day, just getting a few things. Well we only had a few things on the list, but when we got to the checkout line we had a lot of things in the cart. Whoops! Anyway, as we were browsing the aisles, Carson told me that we were out of peanut butter. As some of you may know, I do not like peanut butter that much but the husband does so we buy it. When we get to the peanut butter aisle we find that there are two options: crunchy and creamy. I grab creamy, Carson grabs crunchy. Well we obviously aren't getting both due to the fact that Sam's Club only sells things in HUGE amounts, so we get crunchy because Carson likes peanut butter much more than I do and it would be dumb not to get the kind he wants. So this morning, I am making myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (just about the only way I eat peanut butter) and it turns out that I can't even spread it because it's so chunky. I tell Carson that we made a bad choice. He ignores me. Fast forward about five hours to lunch time. I am starving and really looking forward to my sandwich. I pull it out and take a bite, and guess what...It's even worse than creamy peanut butter. Looks like I won't be having PB&J's for a while.

Bad Night

Sleep: The state of resting while not being awake.

-What I was trying to do while Carson not so quietly emptied his stomach and probably small intestine.

Bad: sorrowful, disappointed

Food Poisoning: Inflammation of the stomach and intestines caused by eating contaminated food.

-Cause? We think so.

*His eight year streak of no throwing up is now over.

Need Sleep

What in the world do you do when it's 2 a.m. and you're completely awake, but exhausted. You can't sleep because that stupid head cold is blocking your nasal passage and will not let you breath through your nose. You've tried sleeping in an upright position and you still can't breath. You think Sudafed (it says right on the box "nasal decongestant") will do it's job and break it all up, but too bad for you, it doesn't. So your awake. Your husband is fast asleep under the warmest coziest covers ever, and your awake. Do you want to scream like I do?

My six (of many) quirks:

1. I am a dishwasher Nazi. It drives me crazy if dishes are put in the dishwasher sloppily. Believe me, Carson has heard it. I also can't stand when people put plates in the dishwasher with food still on them. No, you don't have to wash it before it gets washed, but PLEASE rinse the huge glob of ketchup off of it before ya stick it in.

2. I sleep way better by myself. Most girls tell me that they don't sleep well unless their husband is in bed with them. Heck I kick Carson out sometimes just so I can get a fabulous nights sleep. (I am a selfish person when it comes to sleep; still working on it)

3. I love love love COATS! Some people might say that I am obsessed, but I think they're wrong. There is absolutely nothing wrong with owning more coats than jeans, shoes, and purses combined. I just can't resist sometimes.

4. I hate hate hate water chestnuts. The texture totally grosses me out. I will turn down a bowl of yummy spinach dip if it contains those little bits of disgustingness. And if I accidentally get one in my mouth, no matter where I am, I will spit it out right along with all the other contents in there. YUCK! (I am literally cringing as I type this.)

5. (I know I'm gonna get crap for this one) I think Nintendo is of the devil and I never want my children to play it. There is nothing more unattractive to me then a guy sitting in front of a TV playing video games for hours on end.

6. I get bugged when the toilet paper roll is not put on "correctly". When I say "correctly" I mean that it rolls from the top instead of the bottom. The end is so hard to find when it comes from the bottom. No matter where I am, if it is put on "incorrectly" I will change it. So if I come to your house and you notice it changed, it was me and I don't feel bad about it.

I am not sure riding a scooter in the pouring rain is such a good idea, but that is exactly what I did today. Since the car is in the shop (due to my stupidness) I am confined to the scooter (same as above except blue) and normally am more than happy to drive it, except for in the freezing cold, hits ya like nails, rain. Of course I was soaked by the time I got up to campus and the very first thing my professor said as I walked into class was, "Wow! The rain must have picked up since I came in."
